I’m really excited to share something I’ve been building: Naybor.
Yeah, the name sounds a bit funny — but finding a modern name thats not already been taken is almost impossible these days. So, what is Naybor? And why should you care?
A lot of people ask me when I’m out knocking on doors: “Is this just like Nextdoor?”
And I get why. They both involve neighbours. But they’re very different.
Naybor is a private network for your street. It’s only real households, verified, and focused on the 5–10 closest neighbours around you. These are the people who actually matter when you need help or want to keep an eye out.
There’s no public feed, no arguing with random people, and no drama.
Instead, you get a small, trusted circle who can look out for each other, share quick updates, and send help if something’s going on outside.
Think of it as:
You can message any house (literally anyhouse anywhere that has a Naybor account) privately, get alerts from nearby, and even go live to show what’s happening in real time - ideal for events that affect your community.
Nextdoor is now a giant local forum with thousands of people posting whatever they want.
It’s been good for finding lost pets or seeing local opinions, but it can be noisy and messy.
Naybor is built around a different idea:
Neighbourhoods work best in small circles, where people actually know and trust each other.
Here’s the difference in simple terms:
Apps like Nextdoor
Naybor
It’s not another social site to rant about bins or politics. It is a place to:
It’s not social media.
It’s real-world neighbour support.
The houses right next to you:
Naybor makes those real-life connections easier and safer.
This is my favourite feature. When something is happening outside, you shouldn’t have to wait for social media or guess from a text message.
Just tap Go Live and share:
People nearby can watch instantly, comment, and stay informed.
Most days, you’ll barely need Naybor — and that’s the point.
But when you do need your neighbours:
Naybor gives you a quiet, private, useful connection to the people who actually live around you.
It’s not the neighbourhood shouting at everyone.
It’s the neighbourhood quietly looking out for you.
I know and trust you'll like what we're building.
