I’m really excited to share something I’ve been building: Naybor.
Yeah, the name sounds a bit funny — but finding a modern name thats not already been taken is almost impossible these days. So, what is Naybor? And why should you care?

A lot of people ask me when I’m out knocking on doors: “Is this just like Nextdoor?”
And I get why. They both involve neighbours. But they’re very different.

What is Naybor?

Naybor is a private network for your street. It’s only real households, verified, and focused on the 5–10 closest neighbours around you. These are the people who actually matter when you need help or want to keep an eye out.

There’s no public feed, no arguing with random people, and no drama.
Instead, you get a small, trusted circle who can look out for each other, share quick updates, and send help if something’s going on outside.

Think of it as:

  • Your street’s contact list
  • A neighbourhood watch that actually works
  • A real-time alert system, for when something important happens in your own and wider communities

You can message any house (literally anyhouse anywhere that has a Naybor account) privately, get alerts from nearby, and even go live to show what’s happening in real time - ideal for events that affect your community.

Why it’s different from Nextdoor

Nextdoor is now a giant local forum with thousands of people posting whatever they want.
It’s been good for finding lost pets or seeing local opinions, but it can be noisy and messy.

Naybor is built around a different idea:

Neighbourhoods work best in small circles, where people actually know and trust each other.

Here’s the difference in simple terms:

Apps like Nextdoor

  • Giant public groups
  • Everyone sees your posts
  • Lots of arguing and complaining
  • Feels like social media
  • Mostly text, not clear info
  • Useful sometimes, noisy most of the time
  • Too many adverts
  • Anonymous people. Little trust.

Naybor

  • Small, verified circles of nearby homes
  • You choose who sees your updates
  • Private messages to any house on the map
  • Practical help: packages, tools, local alerts
  • Live 999 alerts and nearby action
  • Live video when something’s actually happening
  • Built for safety, trust and low-stress communication
  • No adverts

What you can actually do on Naybor

It’s not another social site to rant about bins or politics. It is a place to:

  • Ask a neighbour to check a parcel or borrow a tool
  • Let people know you’re away so they can look out
  • Get a live alert if there’s a fire, accident, incident or traffic nearby
  • Spot when someone is moving or selling before the market knows
  • Sell or rent things locally without involving strangers

It’s not social media.
It’s real-world neighbour support.

Why closeness matters

The houses right next to you:

  • Notice if something looks wrong at your place
  • Can show you what’s happening before the news knows
  • Can help in an emergency faster than anyone else
  • Are the ones you might actually trust with a spare key

Naybor makes those real-life connections easier and safer.

Live Updates = real-time neighbourhood info

This is my favourite feature. When something is happening outside, you shouldn’t have to wait for social media or guess from a text message.

Just tap Go Live and share:

  • A crash on your road
  • Someone acting sketchy near a house
  • A local fire
  • A street event worth showing

People nearby can watch instantly, comment, and stay informed.

A calmer place for community

Most days, you’ll barely need Naybor — and that’s the point.

But when you do need your neighbours:

  • You shouldn’t have to post your personal life to a huge group
  • You shouldn’t have to deal with strangers
  • You shouldn’t have to wonder who’s seeing your details

Naybor gives you a quiet, private, useful connection to the people who actually live around you.

It’s not the neighbourhood shouting at everyone.
It’s the neighbourhood quietly looking out for you.

I know and trust you'll like what we're building.
